Questions & troubleshooting
Getting started
How do I install 3dPlayer?
Download the APK from the Download page on your phone, allow "Install unknown apps" for your browser when Android asks, and open the downloaded file. Full steps with activation are on the Download page.
Which phones are supported?
Any phone with Android 8.0 or newer. Very old or unusual video formats depend on your phone's built-in codecs, so a file that plays on one phone may not play on another.
Is 3dPlayer free? How does activation work?
3dPlayer costs Rs 9 / month. Create an account in the app, verify your email, pay by UPI using the in-app button, then send your payment screenshot with the WhatsApp button. The developer approves your account and your month starts. One account works on one phone at a time.
Why does the app need an account?
The account exists only to check your subscription and link your one phone. Your videos, history and playlists are not uploaded anywhere.
Playback
Which formats can it play?
MP4, MKV, WebM, MOV, 3GP, TS and common audio files locally; MP4/WebM/MKV plus HLS, DASH and RTSP streams from direct links. Exact codec support depends on your phone - some DTS/AC3 audio tracks may be silent on phones without those decoders.
A local video won't play. What can I try?
1) Try another player to confirm the file isn't damaged. 2) In 3dPlayer Settings, switch the decoder between "hardware first" and "software first" and retry. 3) If it still fails, send a report with the video's format (long-press the file > Info) and a screenshot of the error.
Can it play any link from the internet?
No - and no honest player can promise that. Direct video files and HLS/DASH/RTSP streams play natively. YouTube and Vimeo play through their official embedded players. Other pages open in a safe in-app browser. DRM-protected, login-required or expired links cannot play.
My link says "expired" or "denied". Why?
Many sites give links that work only for a short time or only inside their own app. When the server refuses the link, 3dPlayer shows the real error instead of a fake loading spinner. Get a fresh link from the source and try again.
Can it download videos?
No. 3dPlayer plays and streams - it never downloads, converts or saves online videos.
PiP & background
Picture-in-picture doesn't start. Fix?
1) Check Android's PiP permission: Settings > Apps > 3dPlayer > Picture-in-picture > Allow (the app's Settings > Playback screen has a shortcut). 2) Turn on PiP in 3dPlayer's playback settings. 3) On some phones (Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo) also allow "Floating windows" / "Display over other apps" for 3dPlayer.
Playback stops when I lock the screen. Fix?
1) Turn on Settings > Playback > "Play audio in background". 2) Use the "Battery settings" shortcut on the same screen and set 3dPlayer to "Unrestricted" - aggressive battery managers (especially on some brands) stop background apps. 3) Keep the app in recents; swiping it away closes web playback.
How do I listen to a video as audio only?
While a video plays in the native player, tap "Audio only" in the bottom action row. Tap "Video" to switch back - your position is kept. For background listening with the screen off, also enable "Play audio in background".
Problems & reporting
The app crashed. What should I do?
Open 3dPlayer again, go to Settings > Error history, and copy the latest entry. Then send a bug report with that log, what you tapped before the crash, and a screenshot if possible. That combination fixes most crashes fastest.
How do I update the app?
Download the new APK from the Download page and install it over the existing app - don't uninstall first. Your account, playlists and settings carry over.
How do I send a screenshot with a bug report?
Take the screenshot on your phone (usually Power + Volume Down), open the Support page, and attach it in the report form - you can preview and remove it before sending. JPG, PNG and WebP up to 10 MB each. Hide private info in the screenshot first.
The website report form didn't work.
Your text stays in the form - don't close the page. Try again in a minute, or email the same details and screenshots to directly.
Privacy & permissions
What data does 3dPlayer collect?
The app has no analytics or tracking. Your history, playlists, favourites and settings stay on your phone. Online, only your email, subscription status and linked device are stored (to run the monthly activation). Details are in the privacy policy.
Why does it ask for media and notification permissions?
Media permission finds and plays your videos and music. Notification permission shows playback controls when 3dPlayer runs in the background. Internet is used for links you paste and subscription checks. Nothing else.
What is the privacy filter in the web browser?
An optional filter that blocks some third-party requests on web pages you open inside the app, using EasyList/EasyPrivacy rules that run entirely on your phone. It never touches YouTube or video streams, and you can turn it off per site if a page breaks.
